Proper: How and when did you start Five Mile?
Five Mile: The three of us (Will Watts, William VanDevender and TJ Callaway started Five Mile in 2010 after becoming frustrated with our “desk jobs” in banking and wanting to follow our passion: the outdoors. We had all been fascinated by the flash sales business model and wanted one for guys like us. The problem was…there wasn’t a platform for guys like us…so, Five Mile was born.
Proper: Why should customers choose your brand?
Five Mile: Because we offer our members exclusive discounts on their favorite brands…why wouldn’t they choose our brand! Nearly everything on Five Mile is 50-70% off of retail prices.

Proper: What separates you from your competitors?
Five Mile: We think we provide an overall level of service that is better than everyone else. We also know that members obsess over our discounts and the incredible brands we’re able to bring them.
Proper: College kids are always looking to become a campus rep. Do you do anything like this?
Five Mile: We don’t have anything “official” going right now from a campus rep perspective but we’re always looking for eager college students to get behind Five Mile and when we’re contacted, we are keeping a list of names for when we get this started (which will hopefully be soon!).
Proper: Where are the headquarters? 
Five Mile: Athens, GA
Proper: How did you come about choosing the logo?
Five Mile: Five Mile is named after an old oxbow lake along the banks of the Mississippi River and cattails are symbolic of the lake that has given us so many great hunting and fishing memories in the past.
Proper: If there’s one product the brand is known for, what is it and why is it the company’s signature product?
Five Mile: From our Five Mile collection of products, it has to be the “Hey man, hold my beer” magnetic koozies – they fly out of our warehouse!

Proper: What are the plans for the future of the company?
Five Mile: We’d like to continue to grow and become much larger over time. By doing this, we’ll be able to bring more and more great brands to our members and ensure we are able to deliver those brands at incredible prices.
Proper: Any plans for further expansion?
Five Mile: We just expanded into a great new (and much larger) location in the Chase Street Warehouse District. We’re comfortable here now but we hope to grow out of this space and have to knock a wall or two down sometime soon.
Proper: Do I really get $5 dollars credit if I refer someone who orders something?!
Five Mile: Absolutely! That’s one of the most attractive parts of Five Mile to many of our members. Not only do our members love scoring big by getting their gear and apparel at 50-70% off of retail prices but they love inviting friends and gaining even more of a discount. There’s no limit to the number of friends you can invite and it’s super easy – all you have to do is post your individualized link on the Invite Friends page and as soon as a friend signs up and makes their first purchase, we instantly deposit credit into the members’ account for use towards any future purchase.
